The Happy Kingdom
In this kingdom, everyone is in their own world. It’s like a neighborhood of characters with no division in time or place. Sleeping Beauty, to which this picture references, stands in the center about to take a morning walk with her dog. This is the setting she looks out on - a town wide awake and in perpetual motion.

In recent work, I am interested in depicting people moving, in blush colors, and montages of separate images that combine to tell a story.
The images of Sleeping Beauty reference a poetic world that belongs to that kingdom. There’s a knight forging a sword in his workshop, Aurora retrieving her dog’s ball before an unknown tower, a woman weaving a tale of sleep, a cook sleeping, a table left cluttered…
Creating these comes from imagination, life, drawings, and photos.
